g/Kg of ground Panacur* granules (22.2% Fenbendazole) is added
to our Teklad LM-485 Mouse/Rat Sterilizable Diet as a practical
and effective means to erradicate pinworms (Syphacia muris). Designed
to supply approximately 150mg of Fenbendazole per kilogram of diet,
Teklad LM-485 Mouse/Rat Sterilizable Diet with Fenbendazole is
a fixed formula diet designed to withstand autoclaving or irradiation,
and to retain the nutrient composition and balance necessary to
support the efficient growth, maintenance, and reproduction of
research rodents. To assure adequate nutrient levels and balance,
additional supplemental levels of the most labile vitamins [vitamin
A, thiamine, pantothenic acid, and vitamin K (menadione sodium
bisulfite complex)] are included to compensate for losses of these
nutrients during autoclaving or irradiation. This product contains
no animal protein, making it very low in nitrosamines. In most
cases, this diet can also be fed without autoclaving/irradiation.
